Sicko

August 4, 2009

I am uninsured perhaps I should move to Canada.

After watching Sicko last night I have realized the one thing that the other countries with Universal Healthcare Coverage have that the US does not is compassion.  Greed in the US outweighs compassion.

If you haven’t seen it. See it.

It also reminded me of why I had hoped Hillary woud have made it to the White House.

Bad Girls = Bad TV

March 11, 2009

Bad TV is a vice of mine but I think I even draw the line after tonight’s episode of Bad Girls Club Season 3

Wikipedia describes Bad Girls Club is  as showing “seven women with severe psychological and personality issues - deemed “bad girls” - as they live together for four months. ” It also states that  “cameras record their interpersonal relationships and their attempts to accomplish specific goals”. Now I would love to know specifically what  ”specific goals” these “ladies” are trying to accomplish besides making a mockery of themselves.

I will pray for these women.

It’s my birthday

December 20, 2008

I turned twenty-seven over the weekend.  Actually, today because I am dating this post back to my birthday, December 20th.  Archive reasons!

Twenty-Seven random things that occurred on December 20, 2008:

1.      I burned 400 calories on the elliptical

2.      I bought myself a tanning package to attempt to darken my “Casper” looking self.  I thought I was done with the bronze winter look but I’m not.

3.      DYE job!  My hair is back to its dark chestnut brown.  I also think I found a new stylist.  Now only if she doesn’t run away like the other 2 potential stylists I have found in 2008.

4.      Chicago was blessed with RIDICULOUS weather.  The average temp for the day was 7.6 degrees and the snow did not stop falling.

5.      My Mom made me 27 cupcakes all topped with homemade white icing and pink sprinkles!

6.      Bacci helped me blow out my candles.

7.      My besties and I spent an hour driving around Lincoln Park in a snowstorm trying to find parking for our “original” destination of Vida LoungeVida Lounge get VALET!

8.      Neither Jax nor I freaked out but rather played it “cool”.  We are very impatient people.  We immediately high five each other after we decided to get back onto 90-94 and change up the destination.

9.      Needless to say we hightailed it to Cafe Iberico after an hour of no luck in the parking spot department.

10.  I received a pair of hot gold Guess shoes from my bestie L. See! See!  Also. pictured is my Lola Martini Glass “Its 5′oclock Somewhere” that I got from Jax.

11.  Jax also armed me with what she calls “Single Girl Clutch” and L adorned me with a Givenchy Face on the Go Kit.  They look awesome but ..

12.  Look at how effing fun they are opened!

13.  Us 3 girls breezed through 2 full pitchers of Sangria in record time.

14.  We ordered 6 tappas and had lots of leftovers.

15.  My besties suprised me with an orgasm in my mouth. Hello… go right now and try Cafe Iberico’s BIZCOCHO BORRACHO!

16.  We spent 20 minutes deciding if our next destination would be Moda or Manor.   We eventually decided on Moda.

17.  The first round of drinks consisted of 3 Bacardi Diets and 3 lemondrop shots.  That’s how we do!

18.  A guy “accidentally” spilled L’s drink and made it up to us by purchasing our next 2 rounds of drinks.

19.  We danced a lot.  Per the usual.

20.  We burrowed between 2 HUGE bouncers sheltering us from the violent Chicago winds as we waited for valet to bring around the car.

21.  We decided to go to an after-hours bar near our side of town.

22.  We lasted 5 minutes until we realized it was much too lame and demanded our $15 total in cover back.

23.  Jax got stuck in a snow bank in front of my house.

24.  L attempted to “unstuck” Jax’s car.

25.  My baby brother came to the rescue

26.  I fell asleep without pants.

27.  Definitely one of the best birthdays in my 27 years!

Waking up on my 27th birthday I wasnt in the best of moods.  I was celebrating without “him” and I wouldnt be cuddled up ending my birthday with him and my fingers, ears, or neck adorned with diamonds.

I wasnt okay with it then but as my birthday drawed to a close I realized the diamonds I had as friends and family were all that mattered.

Reason #12487

October 3, 2008

Why EM is my bestie at work:

She dials my extension at 12:30 pm to let me know she has a tat of a sunflower on her Pikachu.  She didn’t want me to not know this tad bit of information.  We then discuss other oddities hidden under our conservative business suits.

Speaking of Pikachus… Chelsea Handler will be in Chicago at the Lincoln Park Borders on October 26th @ 3pm.

“There are two kinds of people I don’t trust: people who don’t drink and people who collect stickers.”

All in 24 hours

September 25, 2008

-N called me out of the blue during my morning commute.  As I have mentioned in the past we had been fighting but I realized quickly my life wasn’t the same without him and our small fight wasn’t worth losing him as a friend.

He is just as crazy as I, and I need that to prove my mental state isn’t that off the meter.

In any event, he apologized and he then told me I was the auntie to a new pup.  I have been begging him to get a pup for Bacci to play with and he did.  Here is Josephine the Italian Greyhound.  She goes by Joey and is freaking adorable.  N promised me we can get their pictures taken together but he also warned me I can dress Joey up but no pink.

Blah.

-My work BFF EM is getting married.  I thought something was up when she was spending a little too much time at Archivers and was a little hush hush about life.

I jokingly told her last week that if she planned to move back in with her exbf and was sending announcements that I had better hear about it in person and not from the postman.

It’s just a complete shock because she is getting married to the guy she was dating for 2-years and had a restraining order put in place 2-monts ago.

In any event, he took us out to lunch yesterday and professed his love for her and apologized to me for having to deal with the repercussions of his out of control behavior.

This was nice… I give him that and as I told her I will keep an open mind and after all it is her future.

I truly believe she deserves the best and hope he is able to give her the happy life she deserves.

The wedding will be in Vegas on December 26th  followed by a reception back in Chicago.  She really wants me to witness but I doubt I will be able to attend the ceremony in Vegas.  I was kind of glowing when she wanted me to be there to witness the ceremony seeing we have only been friends, super close friends for the past year.  It makes me fuzzy inside knowing just how great of a friend she thinks I am.

This is her 2nd marriage.  She married at 17yo and had 2 kids who are now 8 and 13.  She is only 30 and I would like to do something special for her.  Ideas?

-I finally returned my rental car and have my own car again.  I own it.  I bought a 2003 Stratus. It is cute and I am only asking it last me 2 years until I save up for a nice hybrid.

I’m content.

-I did the unimaginable and took 3 kids all under the age of 15 to the Blackhawks game against Columbus.  Are you kidding me K?  Nope. I am not.

It was a good time but the highlight was running into Rachel.  A very random blogging meetup but a meetup gosh damnit cuz I met Diana.  Yup… you know her the star of Rachel’s blog.  She is cuter than ever.  I would also like to let Rachel know that my sister said “Is that your friend?  She is a very pretty Mom!!”

Damn right!

All in a day’s work bitches!

WSJ

August 10, 2008

I am an avid reader of WSJ.  I read it daily and usually catch up on the Saturday edition Monday morning.  Along with my “paper” reading I peruse the WSJ online about 10 times a day.  I am a WSJ addict.  Here are a couple of articles that stood out to me:

Share a dog?  I am just not sure how I feel about this.  I think its great to give dogs good homes but I am unsure if I would be able to do with it.  Seems kind of confusing too?  Who has fido and when?

Blackberry   I actually learned a thing or two about my berry

An “extreme” forclosure  Who would have thought?

A Taste of the Taste

July 3, 2008

Birthday Boy dragged L and I to the Taste of Chicago on Saturday morning.  Oh yes!  After a night full of drinking we were huffing it to the Taste of Chicago at 10 am.

The Taste of Chicago is one of the events those native to Chicago attend once every decade.  I went a couple of years ago and thought I fulfilled my requirement.

I don’t enjoy watching people stuff their faces with lard while walking an average speed of 15 steps per minute and sweating like heathens.

Birthday Boy still drunk from staying out until 4:15 felt differently.

Taste of Chicago is also one of the few events where L and I will drink beer.   It gets us tipsy quicker than the watered down 6oz hurricanes and lemonade & vodkas being sold for 6 to 8 tickets.  Therefore, we suck it up and chug like champs.

Here are a few drunken pics taken from my beloved Blackberry at the Taste of Chicago.

Enjoy as I enjoyed the Beer I was consuming before noon after a night of partying.

PROOF I drank BEER!!  This is my still drunk from the night before arm entwined with L’s.  Our first “beer” since the beer bong.  Proof we really need to start a reality show “Stay Classy Chicago!”

The highlight.. meeting Mr. Blackberry and debating with L how it is unethical to own a Blackberry and not have text messaging. (true story)

Proving once again age is just a number.  This lucky lady was the winner of the 12 tickets we had leftover on the way out of the Taste.  She chugged a beer with L and I.

\

My first real life sighting of APPLE BOTTOM JEANS.. but where are the “boots with da fur”?

Faux Pas!  Yes.. this fancy lady is sporting spandex capris, hot pink tights, and silver CROCs.  What is this world coming to?

Faux Pas!  This leg belongs to me.  Seeing it was an “impromptu” visit to the Taste I had a choice of wearing either the alchol stenched clothes from the night before where I would have definitely looked like I was walking the “walk of shame” or my PINK VS boyshorts and yellow tank that the majority of the Hyatt Chicago saw me in at 3am. I decided against both and borrowed L’s pajamas above.

I am a hot mess.

PS I blogged an entire blog about the Taste of Chicago without mentioning food once.  SUCKERS to those who searched for the Taste of Chicago looking for some food reviews!

It is true

June 10, 2008

A drama free weekend in the life of K?  Most would say IMPOSSIBLE, but I think I may have had one this past weekend if you don’t include the fact my sister decided to sneak out of the house on Saturday night leaving a body composed of stuffed animals as her twin.

Who does she thinks she is Cindy Brady or something?

Pick up your jaws people and observe this post does not contain the following:

Excessive amounts of alcohol
A loss of an undergarment
Drunk text messaging
Dancing rowdily
Nights out that turn into mornings
Battery
Vandalism

I started off the weekend with a pit stop at Borders.  Oh the loveliness of having a Borders strategically located on my way home from work. I swear it was meant to be.  I picked up the
Are you there vodka?  its me Chelsea and Can You Keep a Secret? along with the July issues of Cosmo, Glamour, Marie Claire, Self, and Real Simple.

It was a sweltering humid day/night in Chicago therefore I did nothing but camp out on my bed, tweet, and read.  I was surrounded by frozen bottles of water and a fan that blew hot air onto my sweating forehead.  Such relief!

Yup.. My A/C was still not in working condition.

I was quite surprised by all of the tweets of those enduring the heat without A/C by choice.   You people have self-control.

I doubled my Ativan dose and threw in a Trazodone for a much needed deep medicated sleep.

I woke up early Saturday morning to meet with my obnoxious attorneys to sign the final documents needed to file the
B word.  It was amazing how cordial the attorneys were after our dispute on Friday perhaps she sensed I wanted to step on her face with my 3-inch Nine West heel or perhaps he noticed my knee was fancying his groin area.

In any respect – Its almost over.  I stress almost because I ran into another miscommunication this morning.

EFFING AY!

I then went downtown with L and the little sister.

The fabulous of the afternoon included shopping on Michigan Ave where I picked up
Dior Mascara and Dior Lipgloss at the beloved Sephora, yogurt at Berry Chill (super yum), and Corner Bakery for some dinner. Yup.. thats my Mango yogurt with starfruit, mango, and pineapple toppings.

The not so fabulous of the afternoon included the reflection I saw in the mirror at Nordies when I tried on a
Juicy Couture one piece and saw the jiggle and dents in my thighs.  I swear they were not there last year or I chose to ignore them similar to the way I ignored the gigantic amount of debt I accrued. I am sure it’s the latter of the two.

We were also caught in a downpour crossing the Chicago River on our way back to the El.  I was wearing white capirs sans undies.  Ya get the picture?

I was in bed by 10 am in a sleep not induced by an extra Ativan.

However, my sisters night had just begun.  My stepdad realized she had went missing at around midnight.  I figured this was just another of her many cries for attention or rebellious activity and went back to a light sleep.

Note:  I am not a bad sister.

Sure enough she sauntered into the house at little after 7am sneaking into her bedroom.  I awoke finding her in the living room watching Disney channel.  I asked her what she was doing and she replied “I’m bored and just watching some TV.  Where are Mom and Dad?”  I broke the news to her that she was caught and they were out looking for her obnoxious ignorant ass.

I retreated back to my bedroom for some sleep knowing that she was home safe and sound and the chaos was going to skyrocket once my parents found her at home which it did.

Our A/C returned Sunday. I love you air conditioner man.

Sunday was spent enjoying Corner Bakery with L, taking a walk at the park, watching my beloved Cubbies, and doing other non-drama related things.

I also whored myself out over the internet.  You can now find me on Good Reads & Bookmooch.  Let me tell you I am quite moochable.  I have eleven books to send out already.

Thats the weekend recap.  Im back to my wild ways on June 27th until then I will try and be as interesting as possible.

A Manolo of a Review .. SATC

June 6, 2008

Click your Manolo Blahniks and get the hellz out of here if you haven’t seen the SATC movie yet.  If you have and want my review on things here you go.  Enjoy!

Overall I loved the movie and unlike most I could have sat in the crowded theatre for another hour for a more character developed story on Charlotte’s life. This might due to my undeniable love for Charlotte York or the fact that I just never wanted SATC the series or the movie for that matter to end.

I probably could have brought a sleeping bag to the theatre and camped out for the night to watch the lives of the fabulous foursome unfold.

That’s just me and I am a tiny bit obsessed.

What did I like about the movie?

The fashion.  Although I do believe the fashion theme of the movie was a bit too much or over exaggerated for that matter. The series played up fashion in the background which made it a little more intriguing and unique.  I think I want to run out and get knocked up just so I can wear the cute polka dot number Charlotte wore when she was pregnant.  I also was quite in love with every outfit Carrie sported even the number she wore while out for a stroll in the park.

The Samantha & Miranda storylines.  I believe they were very much realistic and fit well with each character.  The Miranda and Samantha mannerisms did not miss a beat from how they were in the series.

In the end, Samantha needed to be single and fabulous at the age of 50 and Miranda needed to have good ol’ cheating Steve back by her side.

What didn’t I like?

Carrie going back to Mr. Big.  He fucked up yet again and he gave love yet again a bad name!   Are you singing the song…….??  I don’t know perhaps it’s because I am a cynical bitch who doesn’t believe a man should have more than two chances.  Maybe it’s because I think too many women do often give men more chances than they should.  I just would rather have seen the last scene with Mr. Big being the scene Carrie beat him with the bouquet.

I see enough advertisements for Bag Borrow & Steal in US weekly.

The Jennifer Hudson character put a little Disney in the movie.  She should have been left out completely.  I saw no use for her and could have done without her fairytale friend storyline.

In summary, I will see it again in theatres and will be purchasing it the day it comes out on DVD.

Thats my take to be concise because there are oh so many reviews for SATC out there in bloggyland.

So much I cant even title

June 1, 2008
I have had a major case of blogging block.  I dont know whats with me.  I have a clusterfuck of ideas and nothing comes out in any type of favorable fashion.  Therefore, I blog in summary similar to what a day planner looks like.  Im so flipping creative.

Friday
My $11 contibuted to the 26.9 million in ticket sales for Sex and the City on Friday night.  The night was perfect.  Although I may be one of the very few people who loved the movie, loved the “theme” of the movie, but didn’t agree with the ending.  I will talk about that in a later blog post when it is safe to talk about the movie openly.  Who decides the date of this occurence anyways?

Myself and five of my very best gal pals met up at my house where my Mom had a huge spread of yummies for us to indugle in including a cute cake displaying “Happy Sex and the City Opening Day!” She’s cute.

I wound up going for the sexy casual look.  I wore a pair of gold stilletos (which I will probablly never wear again because they hurt like hell and I didnt even take them out on the dance floor), Michael Koors dark wash jeans, black long sleeve button down with a huge “carriesque” bow adoring my cleavage, and some funky cute jewels.

We arrived at River East AMC at 5:45 with our showing being at 6:00 therefore we were placed in not so hot seats but we were all able to sit together which I guess is all that matters.  The theatre was a mad house just as you have read in other blogs.  Everyone was decked out carrying their best handbag and adorning their feet with their fanciest shoes.  The show was sold out but the lines to pick up Movie.Com tix and Fandango tix were just as unbelievable.  L being the sweetheart she is went and picked up our tickets early Friday morning.

I will keep my movie review to myself for the time being but if you havent seen it then what exactly are you waiting for?

We took our post SATC chit-chat over to the W Lake Shore where we indulged in some cosmos but of course!
We also chit-chatted about the movie which everyone absolutely loved.  What are you doing still reading?  Get to the theatre damnit.

I acted like an adult and headed home when L and Jax went out to Crobar to continue the festivities.  Responsibility sucks.

Saturday
Responsibility sucks but it was awfully nice to wake up for my 9:30 am attorney meeting without a hangover and with 8 hours of sleep.  The meeting with my attorney in regards to my financial fiasco went well.  I am going through with the “B” word which I have tried to turn into a positive as difficult as that it.  I need my past to be just that MY PAST,

I love Jamba Juice.  Where did that come from?  I indulged in a yummy Jamba Juice after my meeting.  Life without overpriced beverages?  I cant fathom it.

I spent the majority of Saturday afternoon worshipping the sun therefore I have a bright red nose and resemble that famous reindeer.  YES!  HOT!

My baby brother’s baseball game was yesterday and before announcing the winner of the contest I ran, I need to give you the play by play well a short play by play because my writing abilities are not up to par this morning.

Have you been to a little league game?  If not, most are better than reality tv and I really think they need to make a reality tv series displaying the drama of little league in America.  In conclusion, my brother’s team lost because they had to forfeit.  Why?  The coach was kicked off he field and wouldnt exit completely out to the parking lot therefore the ump called the game.  He kept on screaming “terrible” “terrible”.   It was the word of the day.  There was a very bad extremely bad call but the coach’s actions were completely uncalled for.  Its a little league game for goodness sakes!  Here is a classic pic of the coach walking off the field after being ejected from the game

The score before the game was called was 2-1.  Thefore, the lovely DEUTLICH won the challenge.  Email your addy to wannaberealitysuperstar(at)gmail(dot)com and I will in return mail you some FANTABULOUS goodies.  Congrats!  Thanks to all that entered.

I spent Saturday night with my remote control because I am cool like that.

Sunday
I have been much too active this weekend.  I woke up at 7:30 this morning to grocery shop with my Mom.  What the hell is the matter with me?  The remainder of today will be spent surrendering to the sun and drinking some sun tea.  This is the life.

Hope everyone has had a fantabulous weekend.  If you havent saw SATC then what are you doing still reading damnit.  GO GO GO !!!!
